Stephen Albert Aronow, 78, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2017 in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born in New York City in 1939. He is preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Bouton Zerdin; father Ira Aronow and stepfather Morton Zerdin.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Aronow; sons Dan Aronow and Michael Aronow; daughter Jeanie Aronow Moyed; granddaughter Morgan Moyed; sisters Tina Z. Fleishman and husband Frank Johnson; Patti Barkin Camilli and husband Dominique Camilli; brother Geoffrey Aronow and wife Melinda Halpert; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He received his Bachelor’s degree from New York University and his MBA from The Wharton School of Business. He began his career as an economist with the SEC and Justice Department in Washington, D.C.
He graduated from Georgetown Law School in 1974 and moved back to New York to work for the law firm Weil, Gotshal and Manges. In 1980 he went to work for Arco Chemical in Los Angeles, California. In 1985 he moved to Houston, Texas where he worked for Lyondell Chemical Company until his retirement in 2009. In his last position he served as Associate General Counsel.
He had a zest for life an enjoyed listening to jazz, sailing, reading, traveling and spending summers in Southern California, taking long walks on the beaches he called “paradise”. Fun loving and witty, he loved to be around family and friends. A doting grandfather, he had a special relationship with his granddaughter.
