It is with such deep sorrow that we mourn the loss of our father, grandfather and great grandfather, Sam Spain, who passed away February 5th, 2019. Born on Galveston Island September 7, 1926, he later moved to Houston, married, became a CPA and founded a successful practice that was to become Spain, Price, Reader and Thompson.
Recognized and respected by the entire community, there was no one person who could ever speak anything but wonderful praises about him, his work ethic, his giving heart, and loving soul. He showed each of us the importance and meaning behind our Jewish traditions and the love of family.
With the recent loss of his loving wife of over 64 years, Elaine Spain, Dad’s heart was broken and his joy and purpose gone. He was her strength and soulmate for many years and they had never spent one night apart all their married life.
Dad was also preceded in death by his loving daughter Pamela Spain Singer, whom he cared for the many years she was ill.
We will do for Dad as we are for Mother, the promise to carry on their legacy: daughters Lisa Spain (Harry Bassist) and Andrea Spain, grandchildren Brian and Dena Miller, Michael and Rachel Miller, Melissa Moore, Melanie and Josh Levy, Elissa Bassist, Bradley Singer (Kate Nexon), Amanda Singer, great grandchildren Vincent and Dominic Miller and Sophie and Ava Miller.
Though our lives are forever changed, Dad leaves us with the secure knowledge we are all right and will be there for one another. He told each of us it was time for us to live our lives.
Our Patriarch, Matriarch, and sister are at peace and will be together for all eternity. May dad’s memory be for a blessing.
With deep sadness, but with gratitude for the lives you provided for us and forever with our love for you,
