Rose Helen Kessel died peacefully at home on May 27 following a brief illness. A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rose moved with her family to Dallas as a young child. She graduated from Sunset High School and attended the University of Missouri and Southern Methodist University. In 1948, she married Milton Kessel, a union that lasted until his death in 2009. Rose’s passions were her family, bridge, quilting, reading and the Dallas Cowboys. She is survived by her four children: Elaine Stillman (Ken); Diane Knight (Paul); Janet Fletcher (Douglas) and Kenneth David Kessel; grandchildren Lauren Stillman and Lindsay Stillman Cohen (Ben); and numerous loving nieces and nephews. A service will be held at Temple Emanu-El’s Lefkowitz Chapel on Wednesday,May 29, at 2 p.m., with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Emanu-El or a charity of one’s choice.
