Lawrence Samuel Schwartz (Larry), 85, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Sonya Schwartz; his 4 children, Julie Schwartz Farris, Sherry Anoatubby, Terry Schwartz and his wife Darla , Steven Schwartz and his wife Sharon, grandchildren; Clay, Meagan, Dawn, Jeremy, Chana Aidel, Yehoshua, Devorah, Leah, Jaymi, Rachel, and Stephanie, and great grandchildren; Graham, Kate, Gabriel, Michael, Aria, Gabriella, Jacob, Ana Leigh, and Nave.
Born and raised in Dallas, the son of Julius and Lena Schwartz, he was a lifelong resident of the Dallas area. In his early years, Mr. Schwartz attended Forest Avenue High School and was a track star winning the 100 and 200 yard dash races at the Texas State Meet. He was a key member of the ROTC Rifle team which won the Hurst Marksmanship Trophy for being the highest scoring rifle team in the nation.
Mr. Schwartz enjoyed a long career with the Dallas Morning News as a computer operator and programmer before retiring in 2001. He had a passion for animals and always had a dog and/or cat, and multiple aquariums that he cared for and loved.
