Jacob Alec Strachan, a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend, lost his struggle with kidney disease on Thursday, December 26th, 2019. Jake was born June 13th, 1991 in Plano, TX. He was 28 years old.
Jacob was a “hippie” and “free spirt,” at heart, and danced to the beat of his own drum. He had a passion for music, art and nature. Jake loved to play guitar, attend concerts and display his artwork at local art shows. In 2015, after knowing only Plano, TX, Jake chose to spread his wings and fly. He packed his car and a U-Haul trailer, and moved to Eugene, OR, to “be one with nature.” In Eugene, Jake enjoyed some of the happiest moments, of his life, fishing along the river and hiking in the mountains, with his cousin, Sam and his German Shepherd, Cadence.
Jacob was very tender-hearted, bright, quick-witted and mischievous – and he prided himself on being the “punctual child.” Jake possessed an unforgettable flair for generating love and joy, through his sense of humor, sharp intellect, art and gift of music.
Those who will, forever, cherish his memory include his father, Joel Strachan; mother, Leslie Batten and stepfather, Patrick Batten; brother, Jason Nemes; step-sister, Briana Kinney: and grandmother, Susan Brant. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles, including Amy and Marc Ward, Ellen and Jeff Starr, Steve Strachan, Heather and Chad Cunningham; his great Aunt Linda and Uncle George Brant; and cousins Rachel, Lenny, Abby, Jesse, Sam, Aaron, Kaitlyn, Christian and Carson.
Extended family includes; Terri Roberts, Ross Dale, Chelsea Davis, Adam Brant, Kory Friedman, and the Batten family.
Jacob is preceded in death by his grandparents, Nate and Thelma Strachan, and Alan Marx; and his great-grandmother, Evelyn Brant.
A memorial service will be held at Congregation Beth Torah on Sunday, January 26th, at 2:00 pm, located at 720 W. Lookout Drive, Richardson, TX 75080.
