Gary Corn passed away in Houston, Texas, on January 23, 2019 after a brief illness. Born in Brooklyn, New York on August 20, 1934, he was the son of Molly and Frank Corn.
He is survived by his three sons: Brian Corn and his family Catherine Stark-Corn, Taylor Corn and Spencer Corn of Kansas City, Missouri; Kevin Corn and his wife Janice Morgan-Corn of Houston, Texas; and Frank Corn of Palm Beach, Florida. He is also survived by his sister Francine Bogotch of Los Angeles, California, and brother Mitchell Freiband of Queens, New York. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 23 years, Marcia Corn, his brother Stephen Freiband, and his parents.
He devoted much of his professional career to sales in industries as diverse as real estate, electronics, and oil wells.
Throughout his life, he was devoted to his faith and the practice of Judaism, attending many classes to further his understanding and appreciation of the Torah.
In his later years, he indulged in travel, both domestically and internationally. He enjoyed cruises and beach destinations and had a special affinity for Israel and Mexico. He spent a portion of his retirement living and enjoying the sights of San Miguel De Allende in eastern Mexico.
Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren. He cherished his friends, but he also loved meeting new people. He enjoyed trying new things, exploring different cuisines and dabbling in art, music, and culture. Live theatre, movies, musicals, and museums brought him joy.
Graveside service will be Friday, January 25, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Beth Jacob Cemetery, located at 2300 Almeda-Genoa Road, Houston, TX 77047. Rabbi Moishe Traxler, officiant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chabad Outreach of Houston, 11000 Fondren Road Suite B-104, Houston, TX 77096; or to St Jude’s Hospital for Children, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
