Estrella Faro Garson, 80, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 23, 2016.
Estrella leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Al Garson, and two daughters, Sarah Garson of Houston, TX and Nelly Garson of Miami, Florida, her sister, Vicky Mitrani of Ft. Worth, TX and brother, Benjamin Faro, of Houston, TX.
Born on December 24, 1935 in Havana, Cuba, she is the daughter of David Faro and Sara Behar Faro, originally from Istanbul, Turkey.
Estrella emigrated from Cuba to the US, with her Mother in the early 1960’s after her Father, David passed away during the Cuban revolution. She spent her first years in the U.S. in Los Angeles, CA and then relocated to Beaumont, TX and ultimately to Houston, TX where she called home for the rest of her life. She married, Al Garson of Tangier, Morocco on December 24, 1967. She took great pride in being a housewife and raising her two daughters with the help of her dear Mother, Sara.
Estrella was larger than life and always made her presence known wherever she went, with her jovial personality and pronounced Cuban accent. She was unforgettable by anyone that had the pleasure of meeting her; she always had a funny & witty comment to make or would invite anyone she held dear, to her house for her famous Cuban coffee and a game of dominoes. Estrella in the Spanish language means Star and her light will forever shine bright.
