Dorothy Malowitz Karp, 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. She was born in Houston, graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended the University of Houston. Dorothy was happily married to Stanley Malowitz for 18 years before his early death in 1964. Dorothy then obtained her real estate license and began a career in real estate development building luxury townhomes. She then was married to Milton Karp for 42 wonderful years before his death in 2014. Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed cooking, playing mahjong and traveling.
Her family have been lifelong members of Congregation Beth Yeshurun. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her parents, Minnie and Morris Herskovitz; sister, Florence Markewich; husbands, Stanley Malowitz and Milton Karp. She is survived by her children: Alan Malowitz (Hope), Marcy Malowitz, Mark Malowitz (Cyndee), Carol Rauch (Ronnie), Jeff Karp (Carolyn); grandchildren: Dr. Stanton Malowitz (Jessica), Paige Malowitz Baden (Mickey), Drew Ernstein (Sandra), Kenneth Ernstein, Leslie Itkin (Cory), Tracy Karp; great grandchildren; nephews and devoted friends.
The family gratefully thanks Dorothy’s caregivers, Joan Thomas and Pat Taylor, for their many years of tender loving care while she resided at Seven Acres.
The funeral will be held on Friday October 16th, 2015 at 2:00 PM graveside at the Congregation Beth Yeshurun Cemetery (3502 Allen Parkway) where Rabbi Emeritus Jack Segal will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Dorothy’s memory may be made to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services or the charity of one’s choice.
