Bonnie Golden July 31, 1930 - February 27, 2015

Bonnie Schwartz Golden, 84, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Friday, February 27, 2015. Bonnie was born in Houston, Texas, on July 31, 1930,  toMaurice and Hannah Wagner Schwartz. Her early childhood was spent in Houston until, at age 10, Maurice moved Hannah, Bonnie and her brother Leland to Galveston to pursue a successful business opportunity. Bonnie later graduated from Ball High School in Galveston and attended the University of Alabama. While at the university she met Ivan Golden of Birmingham, Alabama. Although their special bond wasn’t immediately recognized, they later reconnected in Houston, fell in love and were married for 56 wonderful and loving years. Bonnie was a devoted wife to Ivan and mother to her children, Randy and Tracey. She loved her family unconditionally and supported them in every way possible. To further his career, she and Ivan left Houston and relocated to live in Honolulu, Hawaii for twelve years. Upon his retirement they returned to live in Houston. Bonnie showed the same love to her extended family and friends, always giving of herself, encouraging everyone with kind words. She loved life in general. Bonnie was creative, funny; and loved fashion, to dance, and to let her granddaughters play with her clothes and make-up. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband and her brother Leland J. Schwartz. She is survived by her children: Randy and his wife Deanna, Tracey Spitz and her husband Nelson; her grandchildren Brooke Wise and her husband Jeffrey, Alexandra and Jacqueline Golden, Brian Spitz and his partner James Muscolino Spitz, and Julie Spitz; and her great grandchildren Blake Ivy Wise and Reagan Alma Spitz. The family would like to thank her devoted caregiver, Sophia Ngahyoma, for the special care and dedication she provided, and the staff at Seven Acres for the excellent care given to Bonnie. Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm, Wednesday, March 4, 2015, Beth Israel Memorial Gardens, 1101 Antoine, Houston.
